Meet the Team: Stacy Murphy
Stacy Murphy joined Corporate Floors as vice president of strategic sales in December 2021. Stacy has spent more than 15 years in the interiors industry, including almost 10 years in flooring, and thrives on helping clients create beautiful spaces. In her new role, she will identify sales targets and goals and lead the sales team in meeting those goals.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Stacy to the team. Her background in both interior design and sales brings a fresh perspective to our work and offers a unique advantage to our clients,” said Jim Burns, president of Corporate Floors.
We sat down with Stacy to welcome her to the Corporate Floors team and learn more about her, both personally and professionally.
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m a born and raised Texan, having grown up in the small town of Seguin. After graduating high school I moved to Manhattan, where I received a scholarship to attend the New York School of Interior Design. I went on to receive two degrees in design, the second from LSU, and started my career in Dallas at Corgan in its corporate studio. In 2012, I went to the product side of our industry, relocating to Washington, D.C. My husband, Sean, and I lived on Capitol Hill in D.C. for seven years, but after having our twins, we decided it was time to move back to Texas to be closer to family. We live just outside of Austin in Dripping Springs with our 6-year-old twins, Claire and Dylan, and our labradoodle named Gatsby.
2. Why did you decide to join the Corporate Floors team?
I have spent a decade on the product side of our business working for brands such as Interface, Mohawk, and Armstrong, and I felt it was time to stretch and grow into a new opportunity. There are not many people I would decide to take a leap with into the service side of commercial flooring, but I have so much respect for Thomas Holland and Jim Burns and the business they have built. I am thrilled to be coming into the Corporate Floors family to help lead strategic initiatives in our Texas markets.
3. How has your past experience prepared you for your new role?
Working as an interior designer, sales rep and global account manager over the past 15 years has given me a broad perspective of our industry. I look forward to bringing my experience as both a designer and strategic sales leader to the Corporate Floors organization.
4. What are your hobbies?
Traveling to a new country each year is something my husband and I have done since we met in 2009 (the pandemic years being the only exception!). We plan to visit Austria in 2022. I love to run, attend live theater and read, and I’m a huge Formula One fan (I’m Team Ferrari and my husband is Team McLaren, so we’re currently a house divided). I also spend a great deal of time on my blog Haute in the Hill Country, where I create content to support local businesses in my community.
5. What’s the most interesting article or book you’ve read lately?
I just recently finished Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy, a beautifully written novel about an Irish woman on the search to find herself and meaning in a broken world. I read at least one book a month and always have a stack of books ready to pick up as soon as I finish the last.
6. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
This is so challenging because I love food! I'd have to say steak tartare, french fries and a good Barolo is a classic meal for me.
7. What’s on your bucket list?
To literally step foot in every country on earth! Nothing is more exciting to me than waking up in a place I’ve never been, hearing a language I’ve never heard. There is so much of this world to see. I feel fortunate to have seen as much as I have so far and I hope to experience so much more.
