Meet the Team: Lizzie Altimore

Lizzie Altimore headshotLizzie Altimore joined Corporate Floors as director of employee experience in January 2022. Lizzie has more than a decade of experience in human resources and is a SHRM-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR). In her new role, Lizzie will be responsible for hiring, onboarding, benefits, compliance, administrative management and overall team experience for the entire family of brands.

“I am delighted to welcome Lizzie to the Corporate Floors family of brands,” said CEO Thomas Holland. “As we continue to grow and expand our team, her extensive experience and deep understanding of human resources will make her an excellent addition to our Executive Leadership team.”

We sat down with Lizzie to welcome her to the Corporate Floors team and learn more about her, both personally and professionally.

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I come from a military family, so I have lived a little bit of everywhere, but I call Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, home. I spent a good portion of my youth in Pittsburgh and later attended Penn State for my graduate degree. Many members of my family still reside there, so I love to travel back to see them, but only during the summer months! I am a big football fan, and if you haven’t already guessed, an even bigger Steelers fan.

I have been in Texas now for 12 years, so I think I can finally call myself a Texan. I met my husband in Dallas, and we have two kids, Elly (10) and Wyatt (8), who certainly keep us both busy with their activities and sports. We are also a dog family and run a mini-shelter it seems like with our two Great Danes, one boxer mix, and one Yorkie. Their names are Emmylou, Loretta, King and Hank. Outside of King (whom we named after Kliff Kingsbury), they are all named after country music singers.

2. Why did you decide to join the Corporate Floors team?

What really stood out to me and the reason I am so glad to have the opportunity to work at Corporate Floors is that turning a profit isn’t the only area of focus. Being a Public Benefit Corporation is very unique, and I share the same passion for service that Corporate Floors champions throughout its communities. Having a purpose that supports those in need outside of the organization shows that the company truly cares about people. That same focus seems to resonate throughout the organization, which makes me excited to be part of the culture.

3. How has your past experience prepared you for your new role?

I have worked in many different industries, but my focus has always been on human resources. When I first moved to Texas, I met my husband while working in the service industry, and I found that experience has been extremely beneficial throughout my HR career. My service industry experience taught me that people and personalities are not all the same, and it is important to find a connection and be able to communicate expectations.

4. What are your hobbies?

Outside of my kids and their hobbies, my husband and I love country music, and we try to make it to as many festivals as we can. My husband is a chef, so we are always trying new places to eat, and we love getting recommendations for places we need to try. I know I mentioned this already, but I love football and football season because I have really gotten into fantasy football. My husband made the mistake of inviting me to his league, and this year I actually came in first place!

5. What's the most interesting article or book you've read lately?

I just wrapped up What the Heck Is EOS? by Gino Wickman and Tom Bouwer. I really enjoyed it, especially how it breaks down the importance of goal-setting and communication within a team. The book provided a great outline on how using EOS will help everyone understand why their role is important within the company.

6. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Anything BBQ! After living in Texas for 12 years, I can’t believe what I was missing before when it came to good BBQ.

7. What’s on your bucket list?

After my kids are grown and out of the house, I would like to be a foster parent. I love kids and would enjoy providing for kids who need a home, even if it is for a short period of time.
